STS2 Mod Check

Get your Slay the Spire 2 mods matching Gabe's, so co-op connects and stays connected.

1Subscribe to the mods

Open the Gabe & Friends collection in Steam and press Subscribe to all. Do it again whenever Gabe adds a new mod: Steam doesn't add new items for you.

2Run STS2 Check

Close Slay the Spire 2 first. Then download STS2 Check and double-click it. Keep the file: every time it runs it fetches the latest checker and Gabe's current setup from this site, so it never goes out of date.

What it checks, and what it changes
  • Game files: same version and branch as Gabe, every file identical. If not, it starts Steam's file check.
  • The game's mods folder: should be empty, because every mod comes from the Workshop. Leftovers are moved to a backup folder on your Desktop.
  • Workshop mods: every file matches Gabe's. Any that don't are listed, and Steam's console opens with the download lines on your clipboard.
  • Mod list: the same mods switched on, in the same order. If not, it rewrites the list (a copy goes to your Desktop backup first).
  • Mod settings that change gameplay, such as the Trading Post licence price.
  • Saved-run repairs: one-off fixes for a specific broken run, only when one is listed below.

It changes nothing unless you answer Y, and it saves a report on your Desktop to send Gabe if you still can't connect.

Windows may warn that the file came from the internet. That's expected for a downloaded script: choose Run or More info → Run anyway.

3Steam won't update a mod?

Fully quit Steam (right-click its icon by the clock → Exit) and reopen it. If STS2 Check still says a mod is "a different version", make Steam download them now:

  1. Open Steam's console (or press Win+R, type steam://open/console, press Enter).
  2. Paste a line into the box at the bottom, press Enter, then do the next one. Each should end with success.

4Got dropped from a co-op run?

If the game says a player was disconnected for state divergence, or it crashed, pick the game's log and this page shows what went wrong. The file stays on your PC: nothing is uploaded.

  1. Click Choose log.
  2. In the box at the bottom of the window, paste %APPDATA%\SlayTheSpire2\logs and press Enter, then pick godot.log. The newest file is the current or last session; the dated ones are older sessions.
